My Experience as a Civilian Employee at The New York City Department of Correction
by Steve Newman
In light of multiple cases of sexual harassment coming to public attention, may I relate how my career as a permanent tenured civil servant as a computer programmer in the New York City Department of Correction was blighted by more than three years of harassment by my supervisors and by the Department. This harassment was not sexual. But I was harassed. My complaints of harassment were not investigated and the managers continued to harass me. I was shouted at. They transferred me to Riker's Island. A swastika was placed upon my desk. I resigned.
