HUGGING THE MONSTER

by Meritta S. White

A monster comes out at night?

Maddie McInness does not like things that go bump in the night. Especially the monster she imagines creeps down the hall, bangs on the wall, turns on the faucet, and hides in her closet. But Maddie is sure she knows how to keep the bedtime monster away: stay awake?FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE!!

In Hugging the Monster, four-year-old Maddie gets fed up with monster night frights and decides to stay awake FOREVER. Maddie knows it won?t be easy but surely ice cream and cake, and chocolate milkshakes will make staying awake quite tasty. After filling her tummy with sweets that are yummy, Maddie starts to doze. But when the monster creeps out to scare her, Maddie opens her eyes! Pandemonium ensues when Maddie turns on the terrible creature and chases him, only to discover the ?real? monster.
