What is an EBook
Everyone knows what a traditional book is like. Hundreds of paper pages. It can be small enough to fit into your pocket or large enough to require 2 people to move it. Paper books do have some problems such as ripped covers, broken spines, or damaged/missing pages. And then there is the problem of what to do with the hundreds of books you have accumulated over the years. Also if you are visually handicapped trying to find books in large print format can be a problem as not all books come in both regular and large print.
Now book readers have a choice. EBooks. EBooks are available as a downloadable file or on disk. How is this better? No more ripped covers, broken spines, or damaged/missing pages. Where do you store EBooks? If you choose your book on disk imagine the difference in shelf space between 100 disks and 100 paper books. EBooks on disk take up a lot less of your valuable shelf space. If you choose your book as a downloadable file the number of books you can store is determined by available hard drive space. With the size of hard drives of newer computers being in the multi gigabyte range you can store hundreds of books and not use up an inch of shelf space. EBooks can be used on you home desktop computer or on a portable computer. Another advantage of EBooks is the use by people who are visually impaired. If you are running Microsoft Windows you can install the Accessibility options allowing you to enlarge the text on the screen to a size comfortable to you or you can decrease the screen resolution which makes the items viewed larger. Use the Microsoft Help function to learn more about Accessibility and screen resolution.
Since EBooks are relatively new not all of your favorites will be available. As new books come out we will try to include them in our listings. If there is a title you are looking for in EBook format e-mail us at smallpressbch@aol.com and we will try to fulfill your request.
