A Song For The World
The Amazing Story of The Colwell Brothers and Herb
Allen: Musical Diplomats
By Frank McGee Few men, and even
fewer entertainers, have impacted world events like the Colwell Brothers and
Herb Allen. They played to cheering audiences across the globe, from intimate
gatherings in the huts of remote villages to rock-star scale crowds at concert
halls in great metropolises. They thrilled 90 million television viewers with
their groundbreaking Up with People halftime spectacular at Super Bowl X.
They met and performed for presidents, kings and prime ministers as well as
everyday people in 60 countries on 6 continents. Their songs entertained, and
challenged listeners to think, to see, to stand and make things better. Or
sometimes, their music simply served to put things into perspective and help
people laugh.
They made it look easy to write songs on the road, rehearse them on the fly,
and sing them in dialects and languages they had barely heard before. They
never complained, though it took sacrifice, determination, and, most of all,
courage. They literally walked away from their childhoods, comfort, careers
and loved ones. They put it all on the line for something they believed.
What they believed was that they could change the world. A Song for the World
is the inside story, an up close and personal view of how they made things
happen. It takes you around the planet and through half a century of historic,
world shaping events that felt their influence.
Through it all, the Colwell Brothers and Herb Allen relentlessly pursued the
purpose of humanity. Their dedication and dreams touched the heart of a
planet, set it beating to the rhythm of their music, and started its people
marching to a greater vision of possibility. Such is the power of their music.-

Be Unique Be You & LIVE!
Turn Off The Robot!
By David A. George
David A. George’s book is a partially autobiographical account of his
struggles with a severe learning disability teaching you why it is so imperative
to be the best you can be but at the same time be accepted for who and what you
are. David discloses explicit, grim details of the nature of his bitter plight
and the isolation he endured in his ambience of ignoramuses who represented an
oppressive system that emphasized conformity over individuality.
However, through the compassion, understanding, empathy, courtesy and respect
(cornerstone concepts of his book) while attending Bethany College in Bethany,
West Virginia just an hour south of Pittsburgh, PA, David became a successful
student in college majoring in Communications with an emphasis in the broadcast
field and he performed even better in his Graduate School studies pursuing a
Masters’ degree in Counseling.
"Be Unique Be You and Live" underscores the evils of ignorance, a variety of
theories about education and why it is so crucial to treat your fellow beings as
unique individuals not robots. Above all, David accentuates the importance of
having friends that truly accept, respect and love you for who you are and share
your successes with: i.e. his fraternity brothers at Sigma Nu in Bethany,
Bethany girls and others that became like brothers and sisters to him.

The Candy Shop
By Kiki Swinson
Having no regards for people, their property, or even her own
life, Faith Simmons has done everything from selling off her life’s fortune, to
selling her body, to stealing -- all because of her sweet addiction to the Candy
Shop.
Looking back ten years ago, who would have ever thought that this well-respected
-- and very well-paid -- thirty-five-year-old assistant principal for a
performing arts school, would trade in her husband and her daughter, a two-story
brick home in a gated community, and a fully-equipped Jaguar for a body riddled
with track marks and a substance that gave her a better feeling than sex.
But when that candy, as she knows it, finally runs out, Faith resorts to the
“desperate times, calls for desperate measures” solution, which will have her
playing Russian roulette with the angel of death. And sooner than later, these
episodes will catch up with her so that she will be forced to make some
life-altering choices -- but will it be too late? - Item#

Come Hell or High Water
Hurricane Katrina and the Color of Disaster
By Michael Eric Dyson
When Hurricane Katrina tore through New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, hundreds of thousands were left behind to suffer the ravages
of destruction, disease, and even death. The majority of these people were black; nearly all were poor. The federal government's slow
response to local appeals for help is by now notorious. Yet despite the cries of outrage that have mounted since the levees broke, we
have failed to confront the disaster's true lesson: to be poor, or black, in today's ownership society, is to be left behind.
Displaying the intellectual rigor, political passion, and personal empathy that have won him fans across the color line, Michael Eric
Dyson offers a searing assessment of the meaning of Hurricane Katrina. Combining interviews with survivors of the disaster with his
deep knowledge of black migrations and government policy over decades, Dyson provides the historical context that has been sorely
missing from public conversation. He explores the legacy of black suffering in America since slavery, including the shocking ways that
black people are framed in the national consciousness even today.
With this call-to-action, Dyson warns us that we can only find redemption as a society if we acknowledge that Katrina was more than
an engineering or emergency response failure. From the TV newsroom to the Capitol Building to the backyard, we must change the
ways we relate to the black and the poor among us.What's at stake is no less than the future of democracy.

What people are saying about "Cut Thru The Crap of Exercise and Fat-Loss Nutrition"
"Up till now, the problem with books on exercise and nutrition has been that you had to practically be a doctor to understand them, or they were so boring that you fell asleep trying to get through them. Bobby's book has definitely solved both of these problems. This is the best book on exercise and nutrition that I have ever read."
Rob Haans, Certified Fitness Instructor & only man to ever win World Jiu-Jitsu Championships in two different weight classes
"Outstanding! This is a fun book and an easy read, as well as being very informative. Bobby has written an excellent book that will be a great teaching tool for years to come. I truly hope the public will pick up this book, devour the information, and then apply it in their daily lives. They would be so amazed with the results."
Judy Gedney, BS, MS, Professor of Biomechanics at Western Illinois University for 38 years
"This is a great book! It gives me specifics to go by rather than just wasting time at the gym. After only five weeks on your program I was able to get off three blood pressure medications. My doctor could not believe that I was able to lower my blood pressure that much...or that fast."
Jim Dickson, retired commercial airline pilot
"I often refer to Bobby as a "walking encyclopedia". It is fantastic that his knowledge is now available to everyone in book form."

The Death of Sportsmanship
And How to Revive It
By Brian Shulman, Co-author Ragan Ingram
Aware that his own children needed to learn good sportsmanship and respect
for others, Brian Shulman, father of three, founded Learning Through Sports, a
company that has inspired millions of children through learning resources that
combine athletics and academics. After years of research and through
partnerships with some of the largest athletic associations in the country,
Brian has quickly become America's foremost authority on sportsmanship
education. He champions good sportsmanship in public appearances nationwide,
creating relationships with athletic and educational organizations, and
building coalitions to address the vital need.
A former football star and team captain at Auburn University where coaches
were his strongest influences, Brian has observed a shameful decrease in good
sportsmanship, from youth leagues to the professional ranks in every major
sport. "In our increasingly combative society," he says "sports seem to be
dividing us more than uniting us. As the games take on intimidating intensity,
more and more children opt out, retreating to activities that offer no
opportunity to build individual and team skills. If young athletes are to
learn and practice sportsmanship it must be taught just like reading, writing,
and arithmetic; and coaches and parents are the ones who must learn it and
teach it." After years of research, he offers practical solutions that work
and will revitalize athletics in you community's schools, ensuring that sports
remain an integral part of our nation's fabric.
Co-author Ragan Ingram, a former high school football official, was a sports
writer for the Montgomery Advertiser when Brian Shulman was co-captain of the
Auburn football team. After serving as sports editor of the Advertiser, Ragan
became a public relations consultant, and later served on the staff of the
lieutenant governor of Alabama. He is currently co-host of a sports talk show
in Montgomery, where he lives with his family.-

The Final Crossing
Learning to Die in Order to Live
By Scott Eberle
The Final Crossing: Learning to Die in Order to Live tells the story of
the final days and “the final crossing” of Steven Foster, one-time English
professor, naturalist and author. The story is told by Foster’s hospice
physician, Scott Eberle, a man who has been doing end-of-life work for
nearly two decades.
Steven Foster was influential in bringing wilderness rites of passage back
into the modern world, a practice commonly called “the vision quest.”
Having spent decades studying the “death and rebirth” that is contained
within any rite of passage, Foster entered his final days with uncommon
openness and curiosity about physical death.
The book borrows from an old Mayan teaching that maps out the
psycho-spiritual challenges that are faced by anyone who is dying—be it a
symbolic dying in the middle of life, or a physical dying at the end of
life. With this map as his guide, Eberle weaves the intimate story of
Foster’s final days with an historical account of how people are
relearning the lost “art of dying,” which is also the “the art of living.”
As an old medieval prayer says, “To be blessed in death, one must learn to
live. To be blessed in life, one must learn to die.”

Fleet Walker's Divided Heart
the life of baseball's first black major leaguer
By David Zang, Narrator Andrew L. Barnes
Moses Fleetwood Walker was the first black American to play baseball in a
major league. But Walker is more than a footnote: his life demonstrates both
the devastation of racism and the role of baseball as a symbol of the nation.
Walker achieved college baseball stardom while he was a student at Oberlin
College in the 1880s. As Walker's athletic ability earned success on the
playing field, racial attitudes were hardening and segregation was becoming
the pattern of American society, both on the field and off. Teammates as well
as opponents harassed him; Cap Anson, the Chicago White Stockings star, is
credited with driving Walker and the few other blacks in the major leagues out
of the game but could not have done so alone. Walker's life was defined as
much by the fact that he was part white as it was by his black heritage. His
attempts to reconcile his Anglo and African aspects left him in glorious
disarray. Although acquitted of a murder on the grounds of self-defense, he
eventually served time in prison on a federal mail robbery conviction. A
gifted athlete, an inventor, a civil rights activist, an author, and an
entrepreneur, Walker lived precariously along the fault lines of America's
racial dilemma. He died in 1924 after a life of thwarted ambition and talent,
frustrated by both the American dream and the national pastime.-

Incident at Cat Island
By Thomas Hudgin
Everything you always wanted to know about special etc. 442X
This high-paced intrigue, skillfully woven by experienced pilot, sailor and
retired Navy Commander, Tom Hudgin, will captivate adult and young adult
readers.
Tom Hannaford finds mysterious lettering on a barnacle encrusted plank floating
in the surf along a deserted North Carolina beach. With insatiable curiosity and
after some questionable research, Tom convinces his friend, Chris, to fly with
him in Tom's Cessna Cardinal on a leisurely vacation in the Bahamas near where,
coincidentally, Tom suspects his message from the sea originated. When they
decide to land to investigate remote Cat Island, they stumble upon a quite
shocking discovery that sends them running for their very lives, using all their
skills and cunning just trying to survive. A lovable thirteen year old island
boy, who had hustled them at the George Town airport, then unexpectedly twists
the plot to an exciting climax.
Those interested in flying will agree with Tom Benenson, editor of Flying
Magazine who says "Rarely do authors, who include flying sequences in their
novels, get it right. Tom Hudgin, in Incident at Cat Island, has filled his
mystery/suspense novel with enough aviation details to keep any pilot happy."
From the Publisher
I've had many interesting authors but Tom is unique. He is a pleasure to meet
and to get to know as a friend. His easy conversational style that has made him
a success as a highly sought-after motivational speaker carries over into his
exciting novel. Anyone who longingly dreams of a vacation in the blissful
Bahamas or who loves flying or sailing will find much to love here, but don't be
surprised if your hoped-for vacation isn't so peaceful.
From the Author
I've always dreamed of sailing high seas and exploring tropical islands. Ever
since I could remember, I'd sit on the beach searching the southern Carolina
horizon for some illusive tropical paradise.
After college, I received an officer's commission in the U.S. Navy and sailed
the Pacific Ocean on tankers and repair ships. That valuable experience gained
in deep-water navigation and seamanship skills was put to use again years later.
I earned my wings as an instrument-rated, private pilot and bought my first
airplane. Every opportunity I had, I'd fly to the tropical islands of the
Bahamas and often rent a sailboat to explore the secluded, coconut-lined, white,
sandy beaches of the central islands - Abaco, Eleuthera, Exumas, Long Island and
Cat Island.
My tenacious passion for the sea continued in retirement. I purchased a
thirty-foot sloop and sailed it up and down the East Coast of the United States
and to the islands of the Bahamas. Itching to do more serious, blue water
cruising, I sailed with two others a thirty-six-foot ketch from the islands of
the Caribbean to Europe.
This novel is fiction but the places mentioned and flying experiences are real
... the characters and events are not. I have a high degree of respect and love
for the folks of the Bahamas. They're proud, honest people and truly live in a
paradise unequaled anywhere in the world. Having been to and explored tranquil
Cat Island, it seemed to be an intriguing setting for this tale.
Thomas Hudgin

Now Is Too Late2
Survival in an Era of Instant News
By Gerald R. Baron
Now your reputation can be attacked by anyone, anywhere, at any time, day or night, and if you try to fight 21st-century battles with 20th-century tactics, you’re dead. It’s a new “post-media” world. OASIS in the Overwhelm - Audio CD
60-second strategies for balance in a busy world
By Millie Grenough
OASIS in the Overwhelm introduces four simple strategies for
stress reduction that are practical, easy to learn, take only sixty seconds, and
designed to help busy people be more effective—and happier—at work and at home.
It is the first known book written by a coach/clinician that uses the latest
brain research to teach four easily-learned strategies that can diminish the
harmful effects of stress, increase a sense of personal control, engage and
enhance a person’s physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual health, and
are enjoyable and easy to do.
Author Millie Grenough created the OASIS Strategies during her recovery from a
near-death accident in the midst of her own high-velocity lifestyle. "Suddenly,
and for months," she says, "I was thrust into a slow, surreal pace of living. I
knew that I needed to find some strategies to get myself back to health—but not
back to the fast lane." The OASIS Strategies helped to restore Millie to total
health, and they have helped people from all walks of life find balance and
enjoyment in day-to-day living.
"With four simple strategies to refresh your perceptions in an oasis of calm,
Millie Grenough is offering nothing less than the opportunity and means to
change your life—for the better." David L. Katz, MD, Preventive Medicine
Specialist, Advisor to O The Oprah Magazine

Over Your Dead Body
By David L.
What makes a financially successful, happily married man want to kill his wife?
What makes that man turn into a fugitive and leave town with his two children?
What if you were his best friend and witnessed his steady decline from family
man to stone-cold criminal? Would you turn him in or support his every decision?
These are just a few of the questions that must be resolved in the soon-to-be
released novel – Over Your Dead Body Like all relationships, sometimes
there are problems that need to be addressed. During one fateful night after
returning home from his co-worker’s apartment, Janelle accuses her husband of
adultery. There is just one catch: Preston has remained faithful up to this
stage of their marriage! Underlying feelings of contempt and disdain quickly
form as both Janelle and Preston allow outside influences to get the best of
them as their failing marriage continue to spiral downward. A game of cat and
mouse ensues as Preston and Janelle become engrossed in battle with their
children as the ultimate prize. No one is safe as each character utilizes their
entire array of wit, cunning, and deviousness to dispel the other’s reputation.
With each passing chapter, Preston becomes more determined to vindicate his
image and exact revenge on his wife. With nothing else to lose, everyone becomes
expendable in his eyes and consequently, all intended participants become “chess
pieces” in what is considered the game of his life. -

Visual Discrimination
Noting Differences in Frequently Misperceived Words
By Addie Cusimano
Beginning readers and students with visual discrimination problems
often confuse words that are similar. Some of the words that are most frequently
misperceived are was and saw, this and that, when and then, where and there, and
ever and every.
Visual Discrimination: Noting Differences in Frequently Misperceived Words was
developed after years of research and work with beginning readers and students
with visual discrimination weaknesses. This research resulted in identifying the
most frequently misperceived words and determining the techniques that were most
effective in developing visual discrimination.
This workbook is based on specific words that are most often misperceived by
beginning readers and students with visual discrimination weaknesses. It is
designed to teach students how to establish in their memory the differences
between similar words so that reading these words accurately becomes an
automatic response. Included in this workbook are a teacher’s manual and sixty
(60) exercises presented in a developmental fashion, utilizing teaching
techniques proven to be effective in expanding visual discrimination skills.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Addie Cusimano is an educational therapist who has been active in the field of
education for more than thirty-five years. She earned a Bachelor of Science
degree in Education with psychology as a concentration and a Master of Science

for New York State public schools and was director, diagnostician, clinician and
teacher for a learning center in upstate New York for seventeen years. Her
educational experience has involved concentrated work in remedial, developmental
and enrichment areas for preschool through college level students.
Ms. Cusimano has taken supplementary graduate courses in the field of learning
disabilities and has done extensive independent research related to students
with learning disabilities. Her book, Learning Disabilities: There is a Cure,
