A Wallflower No More
Building a New Life After Emotional and Sexual Abuse
By Jayne Maas Freeman
For almost four decades, Jayne Maas Freeman was a victim of abuse. Beginning at
the tender age of six, Jayne was repeatedly raped by a young neighbor, and later
lived with a stepfather who continually sexually and emotionally abused her. His
verbal attacks left her feeling stupid and ugly and believing that she could
never succeed in life. The constant assault of sexual, mental, and physical
abuse experienced at such an early age began Jayne’s downward spiral that would
continue well into adulthood.
After a series of bad choices, destructive marriages and devastating poverty,
Jayne found herself ready to end it all. On top of a cliff looking downward,
Jayne made the decision to reclaim her life and take back the power that had
been stolen from her for so long.
In A Wallflower No More, Freeman takes you through her experiences with abuse
while providing a logical guide to self-empowerment. This "how to" guide shows
how an oppressed child can grow up to be a successful businesswoman. Freeman’s
steps identify ways for abuse victims to receive help while improving their
quality of life.
This self-proclaimed wallflower has blossomed and begun again.

Charred Souls A
Story of Recreational Child Abuse
By Trena Cole
Charred Souls describes the childhood of one child and her 6
siblings as they grew up in a family that used child abuse as a source of
entertainment. In her book, she describes the methods of intimidation, torture
and isolation used to keep the children from seeking help from others. It also
describes how, since much of the extended family practiced the same type of
abusive behavior, the children assumed the whole world lived this way. This
family, while they may have been reported as potential child abusers, were never
charged or prosecuted despite the atrocious, sadistic torture they subjected
their young children to. Trena, the oldest child, became the parental role
model, nurturer and caretaker for the younger children from the age of five,
never having anyone to nurture or care for her.
*From the author*
"Charred Souls is a story…about seven beautiful babies
who seemed to have been bred for the sole purpose of being used as game pieces
for twisted, sadistic, and degrading games….The verbal abuse they endured was
as crippling emotionally as the physical abuse was painful…The language is
raw, ugly and harsh, just as it was screamed at the children until they became
old enough to escape the madness."
-Trena Cole, Author
*Reviews*
What others think about the book
"No one really knows what is hidden in a soul unless we earnestly pay
attention to what’s happening beyond our sight. As I read chapter after
chapter, I felt such pain for that little girl. How many other souls are passing
through, shadowed from love and care?"
-Hope M. Chema, M.D.
"Charred Souls is a powerful, heart-wrenching account of the horrendous
emotional and physical abuse endured by Trena Cole from the age of about four
through her late teen years. I was appalled by the number of people who knew
about the daily torture inflicted on her and her younger siblings, yet chose to
do nothing to save them from the abuse their parents inflicted for the sake of
their own amusement."

Victims of Memory
Sex Abuse Accusations and Shattered Lives
Second Edition, Updated and Revised
by Mark Pendergrast, Upper Access, Inc.
Each year, more than a million Americans are convinced by their
therapists (or by misguided "self-help" books) that their
childhoods were not as happy as they thought - that they harbored
repressed memories of horrendous abuse by their parents, other
relatives, and even satanic cults. Their identities are
destroyed, their pasts rewritten, and their families are torn
apart. Several books have been written about this strange
phenomenon, some of them very good, but Pendergrast's has been
consistently acclaimed by reviewers as the most comprehensive,
balanced, and readable coverage of the topic. Originally
published in 1995, the book was so highly received that a second
edition came out just a year later. This important small-press
book should be in your local bookstore, but if for any reason it
isn't, you can always order a copy from us.
